Gowdy also said that the last few weeks on the Benghazi committee have "been among the worst weeks of my life."
“You Are Not Worth 18 Months of My Life.” Those are the nine words that Representative Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., delivered to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over her failure to keep four Americans alive–including our U.S. ambassador to Libya–during the 2012 terror attacks in Benghazi.
Gowdy also said that the last few weeks on the Benghazi committee have “been among the worst weeks of my life” as he drills down on just what happened during the lack of response by the Obama administration during the terror attack on ambassador Chris Stevens and his small protection detail.
Thanks to several politically damaging comments made by Republicans who are neither on the Benghazi committee nor had any first hand knowledge about what was being done there, Gowdy has suffered an avalanche of attacks on his personal character.
In one case, early in August, Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s garbled comment on the committee’s work made it seem as if Republicans viewed the committee only as a weapon with which to attack Hillary Clinton. McCarthy, R-Calif., quickly apologized and clarified his comments, but not before the left ran with the false characterization that McCarthy’s words evoked.
The slip was so blatant that McCarthy ended up abandoning his run for Speaker of the House in the wake of John Boehner’s announcement of his retirement.
But the left’s attack on the legitimacy of the committee and its investigation are taking its toll on Gowdy.
Saying that Illinois Republican Peter Roskam warned him that the work of the committee would sooner or later turn into a political attack on him, Gowdy noted that he was still surprised at the ferocity of the left’s attack.
But he also had those nine harsh words for Hillary Clinton, who is desperate to destroy the search for the truth about Benghazi. In the Politico interview, Gowdy told Clinton directly, “You are not worth 18 months of my life, with all due respect.”
Regardless, Gowdy promised to continue the search for the truth, unbowed by the political attacks coming from Hillary and her party.

“Attacks on your character, attacks on your motives, are 1,000-times worse than anything you can do to anybody physically — at least it is for me,” Gowdy told Politico on Sunday.
“I knew it would get worse, but I didn’t know how bad,” Gowdy added.

“Four dead people are, but you’re not,” the South Carolinian continued.
